Arcus were delighted to be announced 'double award winners' at the APS National Awards held on Thursday, 19th October 2017.

Arcus and client, Richard Whittaker from Nottingham City Homes, were presented with the 'Project of the Year Award' for the BMK High Rise refurbishment and also the 'BIM Project Award' for the Meadows Estate new housing scheme, both in Nottingham.

The APS awards were started in 2008 to recognise, reward and share outstanding good practice in the Design and Construction Health and Safety Risk Management sector.  They are now the pre-eminent award of their kind, helping to establish a benchmark of good practice to make the industry a safer and healthier place for all construction workers.

The day started with a grand reception for all shortlisted award winners at the House of Commons, hosted by Roberta Blackman-Woods MP on behalf of the Association for project Safety (APS).  The reception provided shortlisted organisations the opportunity to show case their schemes and to interact with like-minded peers.

The parliamentary reception was followed by a glittering evening awards ceremony held at the Gibson Hall, a Grade 1 listed event hall in the centre of London.  There were seven categories presented on the evening; Principal Designer Award, Health & Safety Innovation Award, Project of the Year Award, Consultancy of the Year Award, Health & Safety Award, BIM Project Award and the Studen Design Awards.

Entries were judged by an expert panel of industry figure-heads, including; Clive Johnson, Group Head of Health and Safety at Land Securities, Tara Fry, Senior Associate Director of Waterman Infrastructure and Environment, Richard Wilks, Director of Health and Safety at Bell Decorating Group and Ex President of the APS, Gary Mees, President of CIAT, Jonathan Moulam, a member of the APS since 1996, Stefan Mordue, Chartered Architect, James Addley, Arup Health and Safety, Alex Lubbock, Carillion UK, Tony Vozniak, APS Director, Margaret Sackey, Senior Health and Safety Manager at Transport London, Philip Baker, BPS Solutions, John Nielsen of CK21, Murray Thomson, a multi award winning architect and a former Director of the APS and David Ashworth, an associate with the Halsall Lloyd Partnership.
