DIY SOS Awards Haul!

Arcus are delighted to announce that the DIY SOS Veterans Village has recently won the RICS North West Regeneration Award.

This comprehensive project involved restoring and refurbishing two streets of empty and dilapidated properties in Newton Heath into liveable homes for ex-service personnel.

The project team, which involved multiple local professionals, contractors and tradesmen — who volunteered their time and materials at an estimated worth of £2 million — to create 62 quality homes designed to suit the needs of veterans, including those with disabilities.

Arcus provided Pro Bono Building Surveying and CDM services on the scheme.  Our involvement on the project, has not only assisted in delivering the physical works, but has and still is making a difference to the lives and prospects of veterans here in Manchester and is setting an example of how veterans can be supported across the country.

Manchester City Council has also won the prestigious UK Housing Awards ‘Outstanding Local Authority of the Year’ award for its leadership role in the delivery of The Manchester Veterans Village.
