An introduction —
Julie started her career as a Business Systems
Consultant for an information technology (IT) company.
Her role involved providing systems planning, analysis,
design, installation and ongoing support services to
assist major companies in the private and public
sectors maximise business efficiencies through their
investment in IT.
On becoming a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Julie moved into the construction industry to work for a civil engineering company to assist them to establish themselves firmly as a UK leader in the sports and leisure industry.
Remaining in the construction industry, Julie went on to become Marketing and Business Development Manager to assist a company through a management buyout. Julie’s responsibilities included the development and implementation of new business systems and processes and successful rebranding of the group and associated companies.
Julie joined Arcus in 2004, as Business Development Manager, with clearly defined objectives; to establish a successful bid department, to rebrand the business and to assist the practice achieve its growth targets over the next 3 years. Julie’s success was rewarded when she was promoted to Director of Business Development and Marketing in 2007 and subsequently as the first female and non-construction professional partner in 2008.
Julie’s breadth of skills and experience has been put to good use to assist the practice obtain BS ISO 9001, BS ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and Investor In People accreditations. She is also strong advocate of partnering principles and of firmly placing the client at the centre of everything Arcus does as a business. Away from work Julie finds the best way to relax is by enjoying long weekend walks away with friends - always ensuring, of course, that there’s a welcoming pub at the end.

Describe yourself in three words.
Loyal, hardworking and motivated.
Who was your role model growing up?
No one really, I just got on being me!
Have you ever been on stage?
Yes lots of times. I remember my first line in a primary
school play “Do you want to dance again buttons?”. I also
used to be in a chorus line with black hat and tails, and high kicks between scene changes at a local theatre.
What was your favourite children's programme? Stingray. I loved Captain Troy Tempest and wanted to be his titan slave girl, Marina.
What are you most proud of?
My two gorgeous daughters, Ashley and Jordanna.
What is your favourite Film?
Rebecca, a psychological thriller adapted from the novel
by Daphne Du Maurier. The film has lots of surprises
and unpredictable twists right up until the very end.
If you could be a superhero which one would you be?
That’s easy, Lara Croft. She’s beautiful, intelligent,
athletic and she’ll never need a face lift. What more
could a girl want?
Which has been your happiest moment in life?
I loved my wedding day.
If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would
it be?
I would like to hike up to Machu Picchu, reputedly one of
the most beautiful and enigmatic ancient sites in the
world.
Your favourite motto?
There’s no such word as can’t. I like a challenge!
